We spoke with Eureka executive producer Bruce Miller a week before the cancelation was announced, and he showed no signs of the series being in trouble.
They are excellent, and continue to rise with each new episode. The definition of bittersweet, I guess. Upon the announcement of Eureka being canceled , Berg revealed exactly why Syfy decided to cancel their long-time staple that continues to grow in popularity , and it all has to do with profit margins.
Fact is, Eureka is an expensive show to make. And we could not maintain the quality of our show with the cuts it would take to make us profitable for Syfy's new parent company. While it can be said that many previous series — Caprica , Stargate Universe , for example - have fallen because of the Comcast-NBCUniversal merger , this is the first time that the reasoning was directly revealed to public.
Trust me, they LOVE us. As for Jo, I think I would love to see more of her domestic side. Married, with children — three girls and one boy, of course — living on acreage… enjoying a peaceful, non-violent or hectic life — with gardening! Or maybe she will finally become sheriff.
THR: What would you like do once Eureka wraps? Cerra: What would I like to do after Eureka wraps… There are so many things I want to do, so many places I want my career to go. I have learned so much being on Eureka , I have grown as an actress, as a person, and I feel prepared to tackle whatever my next role is in full force.
As of right now, I am available for work! I would love to be on another show, however there are a few big film projects I have been going out for. I have had my taste in film as well in the past, they are different experiences — TV and Film — and I love them both.
