Can you wash keens
All KEEN water sandals both leather and polyester webbing upper are machine washable on a gentle cycle, in cold water and with a mild detergent. Also, allow to air dry. We have taken great care to develop leather uppers that will not crack, shrink, or stretch when washed. If the leather on your boots gets too dry, it could crack — saddle soap helps prevent this from happening, too. Place the flip flops or sandals inside and let them sit for about 5 minutes.
After that, place a few pinches of baking soda inside, stir, and let sit for 5 more minutes. Despite good hygiene and clean feet, rubber sandals tend to smell after several wearings. The cause is not necessarily sweat, as you might think, but a collection of bacteria on the sandal itself.
Many products kill bacteria, and because rubber is washable, the problem of stinky sandals is easily fixed. Some of keen's casual shoes and boots -- such as men's Portsmouth casual loafers and women's Tyretread riding-style boots -- feature leather uppers, often in full-grain leather or oiled nubuck.
For a catch-all solution, pick up nubuck cleaner and leather conditioner from your local shoe store. Spray or wipe on a thin, even coat of the nubuck cleaner, and then wipe the surface clean with a soft, dry cloth.
Follow this up with an application of conditioner. Gently rub the conditioner into the leather with another soft, dry cloth and let the conditioner set in for about two hours, then use a clean section of the cloth to buff away any excess conditioner. If you have Keen water sandals with leather or polyester uppers, you can simply toss them into the washing machine.
Use a gentle cycle with cold water and a mild detergent, and then allow the sandals to air dry in a shady environment. A handful of Keen styles, such as the Brixen series, feature wool accents or lining. Remove dirt and debris from wool with a gentle brushing using a stiff-bristled brush, going against the wool's nap. Then, air-dry your sandals out of direct sunlight. Another option is hand-washing your sandals in the sink with NikWax Base Wash, an odour eliminating product for synthetic materials used in outdoor gear.
When the sandals are clean and dry, you can rub tea tree essential oil into the upper lining and insole for extra help. Womens Mens Kids Sale Gifts. Sign in or Join. Shop by Style. Women's Casual Styles. Learn More. Gift Guide. Anchorage III Boots. Shop Now. Shop By Age.
